Evolution vs Ascension

Evolution
- All Null SS
- Lock-on One Way Laser XL

Ascension
- Extra Null Warp ability
- Speed Up bump
- +2000 ATK
- +10 SPD

Recommendation - Evolution (But...)
- Evolution has high DPS with his bump combo and his SS can cover for his one null ability
- Ascension is more flexible than Evolution but he is used as a support. Only go for Ascension if you have other high damage monsters.

Monster Strengths

High DPS (Evolution)

Evolution has a Lock-on One Way Laser XL at 24255 power. It is the same power has a non-blast type hatcher One Way Laser XL. This means you can deal damage to enemies without positioning which can speed up your clearing times.

Double Null Ability (Ascension)

Ascension has two null abilities. He works really well in Izanagi by speeding your monsters to deal more damage. There are other dungeons where NDW+NW monsters are needed like Zashiki Warashi and Fenrir.

Monster Weaknesses

Fluctuating DPS (Evolution)

Due to the nature of the bump combo from the Evolution, there are times where his bump combo does not deal a lot of damage since it hits the closest enemy. Also his SS can either deal a lot or deal a little.

Support Monster (Ascension)

The ascended form is a support monster but he is not the best support. His strike shot doesn't deal much damage and his bump combo doesn't do any damage. His major strength is his flexiblity in terms of dungeons he can run but he is not a high tier support like Merlin or Cleopatra.

Overall Evaluation

Athos is a really good monster for beginners since it requires little skills to use him effectively. No gauge shots and no positioning is needed for his evolved form. For veterans, his ascended form can be a choice to add variety to their boxes.
